2011-2016 INSTALLATION GUIDE GlowShift.com © GlowShift Gauges, LLC | All Rights Reserved 2 POWER STROKE FORD SUPERDUTY Pyrometer EGT Gauge Installation SECTION 3 Stock Engine Installation Steps Warning: Installing the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) probe using the Exhaust Gas Temperature Bracket may result in a below-optimum temperature. The Bracket will fit any application with an exhaust pipe diameter that has a minimum of 2 ½” and a maximum of 5”. To avoid this cooling effect, do not use the Exhaust Gas Temperature Bracket and install the EGT Probe before the turbo in the exhaust manifold. Note: Some aftermarket exhaust manifolds may have a threaded 1/8th NPT Port available. 1. Take necessary safety precautions and confirm the exhaust is cool to the touch during this process. 2. Locate the exhaust downpipe and choose a mounting point to secure the Bracket and mark with a punch. 3. Once the location has been determined, using a 3/8” drill bit, drill a hole into the exhaust pipe. The Bracket has a tapered end that will sit in the 3/8” hole, creating a tight seal. 4. Install the Bracket over the exhaust pipe and tighten using a flathead screwdriver. 5. Remove the 1/8-27 NPT thread adapter from the EGT Probe and insert into the Bracket. Adjust the probe so that the tip is as close to the center of the pipe as possible. Note: Ensure that the brass ferrule stays on the EGT Probe before you insert it into the Bracket. 6. Apply a silver grade anti-seize to the threads on the Ferrule Fitting Adapter. Thread the EGT Probe into the m12x1.25 male threads on the Bracket and tighten using a 14mm wrench. 7. Once the EGT Probe has been installed, plug the EGT Probe Harness into the EGT Sensor. Route the GlowShift EGT Probe Harness to an opening in the Firewall on the driver’s side of the Engine Bay and use Zip Ties to secure. Make sure there is no contact with any direct heat source or moving parts of the truck. 2. 3. 6.
